About Akil Parker
Akil Parker is the founder and Director of All This Math, LLC which is an educational services company focusing on building mathematics competency in the African-American community. All This Math was founded in 2017 while he was still a high school math teacher in the Philadelphia school system. For 16 years, Akil Parker taught high school math in various capacities and at various schools and programs before dedicating more of his focus to building All This Math as an institution meant to serve our community and reconnect people of African descent with their heritage as mathematically inclined people. He currently is still in the classroom, but as an adjunct professor at Cheyney University where he teaches math courses.
Professor Parker is also the creator of “Histematics” which is a teaching methodology that combines the subjects of history and mathematics in an intentional and meaningful way. He is currently working on a book which highlights and describes Histematics and its utility for people of African descent.
Many organizational affiliations have influenced his cultural and intellectual development such as the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC), African Heritage Studies Association (AHSA) and All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP). In terms of pure mathematics he is also a member of the Benjamin Banneker Association and The National Association of Mathematicians. His children also serve as a major inspiration for his work in the community.
